Established on 20th August 2015 when the Hythe Town Council agreed that our town would support those in our community living with dementia, and their carers. Our aim was, and still is, to provide much needed support and encourage local businesses and the people of Hythe to become Dementia Aware.
The Forum initially met every few months to gather medical knowledge and advice from the various organisations involved with dementia and we now have a dedicated team of amazing volunteers who generously give their time helping to ensure we run regular social activities throughout the year, free of charge, for those in our community living with dementia, and their carers, to help combat the feeling of loneliness and to assure them that they are not alone.
It is estimated that 982,000 people were living with dementia in the UK in 2024, with projections indicating this number will rise to over 1 million by 2030 and exceed 1.6 million by 2050. This figure includes approximately 70,000 individuals who develop dementia before the age of 65, known as young-onset dementia.

The Forum meets at the Hythe Town Council Offices, on a Thursday between 10 - 11.30am, where our members living with dementia, and their carers receive updates, meet our volunteers and friends, take part in general discussions and hear from various community services. If you would like to join us, please do get in touch here.
Meeting Dates in 2026: 26 February, 23 April, 25 June, 22 October
No meetings are held in August and December
